The Charleston Land Trust exists to recreate Charleston as a healthy and vibrant city with a wide array of outdoor recreation opportunities and to enhance its existing beauty. To do this we acquire lands and easements that have recreation, preservation and scenic values.
Begun in 2004 the Land Trust has acquired several significant properties which provide beauty and recreational opportunity and which are now an important part of the mix of properties within the City. The Land Trust has been an integral player in efforts to develop world class biking and walking trails which are now part of a master planning process. Recognizing the importance of the beautiful State Capitol Building, the Land Trust acquired a scenic easement on the mountains overlooking the center of government.
The Charleston Land Trust acquires and preserves lands and easements of scenic, historic, recreational and cultural value for the benefit of the citizens of Charleston. We invite you to read more about the properties we have acquired thus far by clicking on the Learn More link below.
